Could you help me translate these sentences please?

J'ai du mal à comprendre.. I have trouble to understand or I have trouble understanding
C'est dur de t'imaginer..It is hard to imagine you or It's hard imagining you
vous aurez du mal à porter ces valises You will have a hard time to carry these suitcases or carrying...

After : it is/was hard TO Verb or it is/was hard Ving?

Faut il faire suivre l'expression : It is/was hard par TO plus verbe infinitif ou par un verbe en ING?

Merci de me donner des exemples si possible.

Votre exemple en it is hard est bien suivi d'un infinitif complet dans ma correction, non ? Donc, ça devrait répondre à votre question.

I find it hard to imagine her as a mother.
It is hard to imagine her as a mother.
Avec l'infinitif, l'idée est qu'on ne fait pas l'action. I can't imagine her as a mother.
Mais
I would be hard put to it imagining her as a mother.
I can't picture myself imagining her as a mother.

Là, elle fait l'action. Elle est bien obligée de se faire une idée du mort d'après les témoignages.

Pourriez-vous me dire/ dites moi / pourquoi le it est présent ? Style indirect.

C'est une expression. I would be hard put to it, j' aurais bien du mal à... Ça me poserait problème de...
