The Guggenheim museum
Hello everyone
We are going to introduce you to the Guggenheim Museum
First we will see « The birth of a work : the Guggenheim » with its « history » and with its « Design ». Then we will present you « its different exhibitions » . Finally, we will observe the place of the Guggenheim in the world
I) The birth of a work : the Guggenheim Museum
The Guggenheim Museum of New York is located on east of Central Park, across from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir on Manhattan Island. The address is prestigious, because it combines 5th Avenue and 89th Street. Originally, its name was "The museum of non-objective painting"
It’s one of the most important museums in New York, but it is also a building that does not go unnoticed, since the building alone is a work of architectural art.
a) History
This museum takes its name from its creator Solomon R. Guggenheim
Firstly the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation was founded in 1937, by Solomon R. Guggenheim. He aims to promote abstract art to the general public and he brings his personal collection there. Then, its first New York–based venue for the display of art, the Museum of Non-Objective Painting, opened in 1939.
This is the last major achievement of architect FL Wright (1867 - 1959), because the artist died a few months before the building was inaugurated, in 1959
b) Design
The space designed by Wright is a unique enveloping piece, a spiral ramp that climbs to the large glass cover, a unique space, a "temple of the spirit" where contemporary art and architecture come together.
On the outside, the top of the monument is wider than the bottom and its rounded shape is reminiscent of a coffee cup. Moreover, this form has attracted some film directors since this museum was the setting for the famous film Men in Black.
II) Its different exhibitions.
Inside, you can find many collections and very well organized temporary exhibitions. The Guggenheim Museum has a comprehensive collection of European painting throughout the 20th century and of American painting from the second half of the century. The museum has the world’s largest collection of paintings by Wassily Kandinsky and rich holdings of works by Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee, and Joan Miró, among others. Modern sculpture is also well represented.
III) The Guggenheim in the world
The Guggenheim is a famous museum in the world that exhibits works from all over the world
Today, the Guggenheim Museum in New York is an iconic place whose interior and exterior will impress you! In a nutshell, this museum is a work of art on its own!
It Inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List
The Guggenheim is visited More than 1 million times each year
So if you love modern art, the Guggenheim Museum is for you. And don't forget to take a picture of the building itself, because its atypical architecture deserves to be photographed!
Thank you!

"D’ailleurs, cette forme a attiré quelques réalisateurs de films puisque ce musée a été le décor du célèbre film Men in Black." dit le texte d'internet, mais quelques est trop faible et some aussi, il vaudrait mieux dire qu'il a même attiré plus d'un réalisateur, un certain nombre de réalisateurs. Je dirais : This architectural shape has attracted quite a few film directors : As a matter of fact, this museum.... pour mettre en valeur parce que votre phrase est trop plate. Ce genre de défaut de style arrive quand on compose un texte à partir de collages de différents textes internet traduits.
