Bonjour,
J'ai mon oral de Bac au début de la semaine prochaine et je voudrais que vous corrigiez ma synthèse s'il vous plaît.
Merci d'avance.
We will see the notion “locations and forms of power”. In politics and social science, power is the ability to influence people’s behaviour. In order to live together members of a community accept rules, regulations, and laws. This helps to create social cohesion but can also lead to conflicts and tensions. Even when authority seems absolute, there are always counter-power which question it, aim at limiting its excesses and resist it.
Martin Luther King and other men like Malcolm X we fought for equitable power. Before the speech of Martin Luther King on August, twenty-eight nineteen sixty-third, USA was divided into 2 districts: the black districts and the white district. With his speech “I have a dream” the oppression of the blacks was abolished. In USA, the power was held by white, now the power is equal. Since two thousand and eight, the president is black what shows equality between black and white.
In the USA, so there two political parties: the Democratic Party with Obama. It supports a modern liberal platform. Moreover, another party opposed to him, the Republican Party who supports a conservative platform. On the American territory, the two parties disagree on the big points like immigration, abortion and same sex marriage. The Republican Party being very conservative, they are against abortion and the same sex marriage. In contrast, the Democratic Party supports abortion and the same sex marriage. In addition to, we can see thanks to the poster that the two parties oppose because the faces of the two animals are against the other. The red elephant represent the Republican Party and the blue donkey represents the democrats.
In addition to the political power, the stars use their power of celebrity for influence votes like Eva Longoria who is a political activist who support Barack Obama. Then the election of Obama in 2012, she assists has a meeting in North Carolina for the campaign of president.
Moreover, the power of the media is also important because the written press for example shapes public opinion. The mass media plays an important role in forming our personality, enriching our knowledge, providing us with information of any kind. Mass media can have an effect on our personal identity: it can help us to feel that we are part of a group but on the other hand it can contribute to a feeling of isolation.
To conclude, several forms of powers exist: the power politics, the power of the media, the power of the celebrities. Certain places become symbols of power like White House or Buckingham Palace.
