Message de inayagdrd posté le 13-04-2014 à 19:14:35
Bonjour,
I. Introduction
So I’m going to present you the notion of « Myths and Heros ». First of all I’m going to give a definition. Myths originally aimed at explaining the origins of humanity and narrating the foundations of a given community while an heroe is a person of superhuman qualities who is admired for his courage. Now I’m going to develop 3points : the first is Self made man, the second I’m gonna explain is the case of Nelson Mandela and to finish I’m going to talk about the evolution of heroes.
II. Presentation
To start I’m going to explicate what is Self Made Man. This concept is used to describe people who have become successful and rich through their own efforts, especially if they started from scratch. For exemple Walt Disney started has being a delivery man and his society become, not only for child, the emblem of cartoon ! That embodies the dream ! But he is not the only one. Another example is Steeve Jobs which created Appel in 1976. Who would have guess that he will change the life of billions of people ? He wasn’t the first of class no, far of that ! He must was the dunce ! But he mainly was a visionnary and a revolutionner. His currency was « Think different » « you have to be Crazy ». He is the symbol of the 21st century self made man, and most particularly in the USA where he permit to make continue the american dream.
Now in opposition of what we just see, we are going to talk about Nelson Mandela. He was born in 1918 in a context of segration. The white, also called Afrikaners, had the political power. They considered black as worthless, they had all right on them. But one day, in 1948 Nelson Mandela started to fight against those unfairness. Of course he wasn’t alone but he did more than others. Indeed he was one of the last person who thought for the community before himself, truely he past 27 years in prison for what he was believed ! The government propose him to stop his insurection in exchange of freedom from jail, and he refused ! At his liberation in 1990 he was elected as president of South Africa in 1991, but he didn’t revenge against white as we can see in the movie « Invictus ». He wanted peace, he wanted people egual, he wanted people support each other and for that he passed by rugby, it was a big symbol for everyone ! At the death of Nelson Mandela on december 2013, we have seen all the world distraught, he was the symbol of freedom peace and eguality. Nelson Mandela is a real myth, he is registered in the history of the humanity.
The last point I’m going to develop is the Evolution of heroes. The first heroe was born in ancient Greece he represented a military leaders. He was the reference for national unit, he emboded some values like courage. In the 17th century, the national unit became human rights, as a result writter changed them heroes, they started to write autobiography, and so become them own heroes ! It was only after the second world war that the image of heroe really change. In fact, there is no more heroic act but thanks to advertising, it make you want something, he guides your choice. It is a sort of social production, of what people want. They are often coming from the same social rank and represent for population the model to follow. Those heroes are call anti-heroes.
III. Conclusion
We can conclude by saying that the notion of "myth and heroes" is a very large notion which could countain fictional or real heros. Sometimes heroes could become myth. But some heroes of progress like Steeve Jobs could have change so much the society that is not so good for exemple the education of childs on tablet…

Bonsoir,
